Over the years The Cleveland Browns have been known for their poor draft decisions: Selecting players like Brady Quinn, Johnny Manziel and Trent Richardson in the first round just to name a few.
This year may have changed the fortunes of the Browns franchise forever. The Cleveland Browns selected what most experts are calling a franchise pass rusher in former Texas A&M Aggie Myles Garrett number 1 overall after months of speculation.Garrett has all the physical tools to be successful. He is 6’4 272 pounds, runs a 4.6 40 yard dash and has a 41 inch vertical.
Myles Garrett has produced each of his 3 years in college. As a freshman he garnered First Team All NCAA- Freshman honors while recording 12.5 tackles for loss and 11.0 sacks. He gained national stardom his sophomore year when he recorded an outstanding 19.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. Garrett, a 2x First Team All-American selection at Texas A&M finished his junior season off with a bang. While just playing 11 games due to injuries this past year and only starting 9 of those Garrett totaled 15 tackles for loss as well as 8.5 sacks.
It’s very clear that Garrett will help the Browns right away on defense which was needed after finishing 31st in the league in total defense(out of 32 NFL teams ).His first test will be Sunday September 10 versus the high-powered Steelers offense.
